Threadhead: Candy Jacobs

Hands down one of our coolest ambassadors (and one of the coolest girls on earth), we're SO stoked to have her on her team. At only 28 years old,  the Dutch Women's Street National Champion has goals to become the first athlete from the Netherlands to earn an X Games medal in skateboarding. She's on her way to her dream quick and we're so stoked to see what she does. Read on to find all about her!
Who are you and what's your story?
"My name is Candy Jacobs and I am a skateboarder from the Netherlands, I was raised by my mom and dad and have a brother who is three years older than me and who I've always looked up to. My family has always had my back in everything I chose to do. All of them are a big fan of skateboarding now and support me in whatever way they can. Before I skated I tried all different sports and tried to play some instruments but nothing ever lasted, until I found skateboarding. Skateboarding gave me a sense of belonging and a place where it is quiet in my head. I have never stopped since and I don't intend to stop anytime soon.
You just placed at Mountain Dew's Dew Tour! Tell us about it!
Dew Tour was insane, I always try to skate as good as I can and throughout the whole week I was feeling confident and strong. Dew Tour is a rad environment, the crowd can come in for free so they are hyped, it is outside and the course is always good. I had to skate all the rounds, quarter-finals, semi-finals and eventually finals. I was stoked to make it that far but was really going for a top 3 spot this time and it finally happened. It meant a lot to me!
How often are you skating? How'd you get into it?
I skate as much as I can. Lately, I've been trying to have 1 day of not-skating every week to let my body recover but most of the time I skate 7 days a week. I got into skateboarding out of boredom really and I fell in love instantly.
Have you had any bad injuries?
The skate gods have been on my side until now, I definitely had my share of injuries but so far have been pretty lucky. I also work out a lot to make sure I can take the slams and am in as good of shape as I can be to keep up my skateboarding lifestyle.
You can only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what do you pick?
I would probably go for noodle soup with veggies or rice and veggies. Always good, cold or warm and just too good.
How do you define 'originality'?
I define originality by independence and doing exactly what I feel I need to be doing at this moment in time. Listening to your instincts and staying true to yourself.
What's your favorite place to skate? Any places you've been dreaming of?
Favorite place to skate is anywhere in LA with my friends or Woodward camp. Good vibes all over!
When I'm not skating, I'm________.
When I am not skating I am either with my PT or chilling with my little Frenchie.
Anything else you want to add?
"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to make many ripples."
